5 Yoga Poses for Sciatica Pain Relief


Sciatica refers to back pain caused by a problem with the sciatic nerve. This is a

large nerve that runs from the lower back down the back of each leg. When

something injures or puts pressure on the sciatic nerve, it can cause pain in the

lower back that spreads to the hip, buttocks, and leg.

1 _Child’s Pose (Balasana)

2 _Downward-Facing Dog

For everyone and  At first glance, Downward Dog doesn’t look like an overly

difficult pose. However, if you’ve been practicing for awhile, then you know it

requires strength, flexibility, and stamina to perform correctly.

Downward Dog uses the strength of your arms and legs to fully and evenly

stretch your spine. It stretches your hips, hamstrings, and calves as it strengthens

your quadriceps and ankles. It opens your chest and shoulders and tones your

arms and abdominals

          

 3_ Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana)

In Half Moon Pose, two opposing movements are happening at once: You are 

rooting down into the earth with your standing leg while simultaneously lifting 

and extending your raised leg into space.

In this pose, you discover how the coming together of two opposing energies 

generates a power that is greater than its separate parts  and balances your body. 

It increases flexibility, relieves tension, and stretches your spine, glutes, and 

thighs.

   


3_ Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)

Cobra Pose increases the mobility of the spine, strengthens spinal support 

muscles, and can help relieve back pain. It opens the chest and the front of the 

body.

This soothing pose strengthens and stretches your spine, promoting circulation 

and flexibility.

Open the heart and roll the shoulders down to promote flexibility in Cobra Pose.


      


4. Knees-to-Chest Pose/Wind-Relieving Pose (Pawanmuktasana)

Is one of the best yoga poses for beginner,this is an excellent pose to relieve 

tightness in your lower back, hips, and glutes and and this makes it easier for the 

person to move on to more challenging asanas.


              

5. Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)

The bridge pose Sanskrit name is Setu Bandhasana. A type of backbend pose, 

this asana starts out as in the supine position, eventually making you lift your 

torso up with your knees bent, and head and feet firmly on the floor. Like all 

back bends, this asana helps opens your chest, strengthens your back, thighs and 

abdomen. However, this posture also imbibes some of the benefits of an 

inversion, as the chest is higher than the head.
